More information will be posted in the coming days, but here is a sampling of the organizations and events I’ve had the privilege of working with:
Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA) and Paralegals for Pooches
“Yappy Hour” benefitting the SPCA of Texas
August 3, 2010 - Fedora Restaurant & Lounge, Dallas, Texas
Almost $1,000 was raised in two short hours (in $1 and $2 increments no less) at this end-of-summer cocktail party benefitting the SPCA of Texas. This project involved sponsorships, raffles, drawings, event signage, custom favors, gift bags, dog and cat cupcakes and on-site management.

DAPA Annual Holiday Luncheon
December 4, 2009 – Park City Club, Dallas, Texas
Neighborsgo.com (published by The Dallas Morning News) – Thanks to the generosity of local probate attorney and friend, Mr. Cooper Blankenship, DAPA’s annual holiday luncheon was held at the exclusive Park City Club (PCC) in the University Park and Highland Park community. Over 125 people attended this event and kicked off the holiday season in style. Each year the holiday luncheon committee chooses a local charity to receive all proceeds from the event’s raffle sales. The 2009 beneficiary was The SPCA of Texas. Nearly $3,000 was raised to help the SPCA of Texas provide exceptional care and loving homes for its animals. I was surprised and honored to be chosen as DAPA’s 2009 Paralegal of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. My former boss, Dr. Edwin Flores, helped with the nomination and was on hand to present the awards. DAPA is an exceptional organization and I have enjoyed volunteering my time and services for their events. This holiday luncheon required an extensive planning process, but was well-worth the effort. The plan involved several site reviews, a presentation to the selection committee, securing the venue upon committee approval, board meetings, a private tasting, an automated “Save the Date” card set to Winter Wonderland, event signage, gift bags, centerpieces, event program, press releases and on-site management.

Paralegal Career Day Event
November 7, 2009 – Everest College, Dallas, Texas
This was a joint event with members of DAPA, the North Texas Paralegal Association and the Fort Worth Paralegal Association. I designed the event’s logo — choosing a chameleon and associated colors to play on the title, “Learn How to Adapt to the Evolving Legal Marketplace.”

Texas Paralegal Day Celebration
October 22, 2009 – The Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa, Dallas, Texas
Texas Bar Journal - This was a joint event with members of DAPA, the North Texas Paralegal Association and the State Bar of Texas. I located a wonderful flash drive pen via www.motivators.com, which attendees received as a commemorative gift. This project involved numerous items, such as site review and booking, menu selection, invitations, sponsorship packets, media alerts, event signage, decorations, centerpieces and on-site management.

September 9, 2009 - Palomino Restaurant & Bar, Dallas, Texas
Capitalizing on Palomino’s great location, vibrant decor and happy hour specials, DAPA hosted this fabulously fun “Cocktails & Conversation” fall social. This project involved site booking, menu selection, invitations, event signage, decorations, drawings and on-site management.

DAPA Annual Wine & Cheese Social
June 4, 2009 – Reunion Tower, Dallas, Texas
This event afforded DAPA members and guests a spectacular opportunity to experience the newly-renovated private event space at Reunion Tower. Guests enjoyed an array of wonderful cuisine prepared by Wolfgang Puck Catering as they mixed and mingled to the beautiful sounds of the Dallas String Quartet. The attached DAPA Newsletter (pages 8, 9 and 10) has all the details with photos (this venue has fantastic views of the city). This was one of my favorite projects. This event required site review and booking, menu selection, event signage, invitations, sponsorships, drawings, entertainment, audio/visual coordination, decorations, centerpieces and on-site management.

DAPA March Membership “MANNY-A!”
March 19, 2009 – Manny’s Uptown, Dallas, Texas
As a play on the usual “March Madness” festivities, we organized a fun membership drive at a friend’s local Tex-Mex restaurant. The venue gained some new patrons and DAPA provided its members and sponsors with a new and exciting springtime event to jump-start the year. I reached out to a local attorney who graciously donated two platinum-level tickets to a Dallas Maverick’s Game for the grand prize drawing. This project entailed site review and booking, menu selection, invitations, give-a-ways, event signage and on-site management.

DAPA Annual Wine & Cheese Social
September 9, 2008 – Dali Wine Bar (now closed), Dallas, Texas
As an intellectual property paralegal, I had just become a member of the Dallas Area Paralegal Association (DAPA) when I was approached about organizing their Fall social. I knew that Dali had just opened in One Arts Plaza, so we were able to work a fabulous deal on appetizers and wine. In turn, we provided Dali with valuable exposure to local legal and business professionals who could patronize their establishment. This project involved site review and booking, menu selection, invitations, event signage (production by Michael Saint), decorations and on-site management.
